Peter Goldsworthy’s keenly awaited next book Gravel has finally hit the bookshop shelves. This time around he’s written eight short stories, one of which involves a happy woman who finds herself considering an unusual sexual invitation that just days before she previously shunned. Lori Gottlieb also received a number of mentions for her book Marry Him: The Case for Settling for Mr Good Enough. Alexander McCall Smith’s The Double Comfort Safari Club got a few mentions in the national media as well as Don DeLillo’s Point Omega, Robert Jackson Bennett’s Mr Shivers and The Man from Beijing by Henning Mankell–Media Extra.

What’s Hot in the Media 8th February 2010

Carmel Bird has generated quite a bit of interest with her new novel Child of the Twilight and it shows in the number of mentions received in the media this weekend. Rebecca Stead’s When You Reach Me, Garry Disher’s Wyatt and Henning Mankell’s The Man from Beijing also sparked interest. But it was Kirsten Tranter’s The Legacy that came out on top. Ingrid, the protagonist, inherits a lot of money and leaves Australia and her friends to live in the New York art world.
