Fantasy fans will be happy that Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson’s The Gathering Storm has reached number one in the Highest New Entries and number three in the Bestseller charts this week. Stephanie Meyer’s Eclipse (Red-Edged) edition has slipped to number nine. Matthew Reilly’s The Five Greatest Warriors is number one again in the Bestsellers and Michael Connelly’s Nine Dragons is top of the Fastest Movers chart followed by Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert.

What’s Hot in the Media 7th July 2009

Since her first books were published, Manchester-based Australian author M J Hyland has been winning literary awards. But it was when Carry Me Down was shortlisted for the Man Booker prize that Hyland’s literary fame both in Australia and internationally really gained momentum. We’ve been eagerly awaiting her next book This is How, which has arrived, and shares the top of the Most Mentioned chart this week with Aravind Adiga’s Between the Assassinations.

Bestsellers this week

The results for the Bestsellers are in for this week and Michael Connelly’s The Brass Verdict has made it to number one. The irrepressible Stephenie Meyer and Twilight comes in at number two as well as number one in the Fastest Movers chart. The Islands by Di Morrissey is the ‘highest new entry’ and in second place is the avuncular Michael Parkinson with Parky.

Nothing like a new Maeve Binchy title to give the charts a shake-up. Heart and Soul by the aforementioned Irish writer has claimed number one spot in both the Bestseller and Fastest Movers charts. Michael Connelly’s The Brass Verdict comes in a close second. Brisingr slides down to number four in the Bestsellers and Balance and Harmony by Neil Perry makes it to number one in the Highest New Entries–WBN.

Kathy Lette’s new book To Love, Honour and Betray (Till Divorce Us Do Part) has claimed the ‘fastest mover’ tag this week in the charts, showing once again that Lette has what it takes to get books off the shelves. The Brass Verdict by Michael Connelly is atop the Highest New Entries chart and Brisingr remains strong as the bestselling book this week, closely followed by 4 Ingredients, 2–WBN.
