It’s a bit of a mixed bag this week with The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson at number one in the Bestsellers, followed by Claudia Gray’s Hourglass. Brooklyn by Colm Toibin secures top spot in the Highest New Entries chart and Original Sin by Allison Brennan is the ‘fastest mover’–Weekly Book Newsletter.

Garth Nix’s Lord Sunday is number one in the Highest New Entries. On the Fastest Movers chart the late J D Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye comes second and Lunch in Paris by Elizabeth Bard is number one–Weekly Book Newsletter.

John Silvester and Andrew Rule are household names these days, so it’s no surprise that their latest book Underbelly: The Golden Mile is proving to be popular with the true-crime fans. It comes in at number one in the Fastest Movers and number three in the Bestsellers charts this week. Sweet Little Lies by Lauren Conrad is number one in the Highest New Entries chart and Stieg Larsson’s The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo remains top of the Bestsellers–Weekly Book Newsletter.

Elizabeth Kostova’s The Swan Thieves is number one in the Highest New Entries charts and crime-related books continue to flourish with Underbelly The Golden Mile by John Silvester & Andrew Rule the fastest mover this week.

Elizabeth Gilbert, bestselling author of Eat, Pray, Love, has topped the charts again in the Highest New Entries this week at any rate–with Committed: A Skeptic Makes Peace with Marriage, her exploration of marriage ahead of her own nuptials. Dan Brown is number one in the Bestsellers with The Lost Symbol and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson is close behind at number two. James Patterson, never seeming to be far from the action in the charts, has Worst Case coming in at number one in the Fastest Movers this week.

What’s Hot in the Media 9th November 2009

Peter Carey continues his reign of the Most Mentioned chart in MX this week. His new book Parrot and Olivier in America has been receiving some very positive reviews. The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest–Swedish author Stieg Larsson’s awaited final book in the ‘Millennium’ trilogy–is also continuing to appear in the review pages, as is Ray Martin’s autobiography Ray: Stories of My Life. Alex Miller’s Lovesong and David Foster’s Sons of the Rumour also feature strongly on the chart this week.
