Williamstown Literary Festival
The sixth Williamstown Literary Festival will be held from 1 to 3 May 2009 with the theme of ‘Hidden Life of Suburbs’.
The Williamstown Literary Festival looks at the rich cultural landscape of Melbourne’s western suburbs as a source of inspiration and ideas for local writers. Over 40 presenters at this year’s festival includes Andy Griffiths; Joan Kirner; Andrew Rule; Gideon Haigh; Maureen McCarthy; Alice Pung; Catherine Deveny; Alice Garner; Leigh Hobbs; Martin Flanagan; Juliette Kent; Jacinta Halloran; Nick Gadd; Amra Pajalic and many more local writers. A people’s choice award will take place over two sessions, where writers read a small extract from their own work and the audience judges the winners.
The festival kicks off with a literary soiree on Friday 1 May, where the winners of the Ada Cambridge Prize for Biographical Short Story Writing, and the Seagull Poetry Prize will be announced. http://www.willylitfest.org.au/
